If you have recently installed Lightroom 5.7 using the Creative Cloud Application Managager you may be experiencing a dialog asking you to 'Validate Serial'.

If so just follow these steps:

1. Make sure the Creative Cloud App Manager is closed and not running in the background.(This can be prevented in CC preferences)
2. Make sure Lightroom is closed
3. Make your hidden folders visible and open Windows Explorer
4. Go to C:ProgramDataAdobeLightroom
5. Delete the .Irreg file named Lightroom 5.0 Registration.lrreg (probably the only file there at this stage.)
6. Open Lightroom 5
7. A dialog will show “Buy or Start Trial” but it looks different to the original Creative Cloud dialog.
8. Select “I have a serial and want to license Lightroom”
9. Select a country at the bottom of the dialog and hit “Next”
10. Enter another serial number or the same one you used before
11. Click “Finish”
